Kashmiri Kahwa - Batch 1/9

Kahwa is Kashmir's green tea, simmered with saffron and warm spices and poured after meals across the valley. Our version keeps the tradition intact: a clean green tea base, real saffron threads, cardamom, and cinnamon. The cup is warm, lightly sweet, and golden in the pot, with the saffron arriving on the finish.

The saffron comes from the Kanihama growers' cooperative near Srinagar, the region whose saffron carries its own protected status, grown at 1,585 metres on the Karewa plateaus. This batch was put together between 2 and 7 May 2026, just after the spring green tea harvest it is built on.

How we brew it: a teaspoon per cup, water at about 85 degrees, three to four minutes. The traditional serve adds a spoon of crushed almonds to the cup before pouring, and it is worth trying at least once. Sweeten with honey or sugar to taste; kahwa in Kashmir is rarely drunk plain.

Saffron is the most expensive ingredient in our catalogue, which is why this blend is tinned in small numbered batches with the source and blending window on the label. What is in the tin is what the label says, nothing more.

Steep 1 teaspoon of leaves in 200ml of water at 85°C for 3 minutes. Re-steep up to 4 times for evolving flavor profiles.
